The Obligatory Music Post
Hey there Internet, it’s your old pal Charlie! Today, I am going to talk about the music I love and grew up listening to. So, here we go! I remember riding in the car with my dad when I was probably 4 or 5 and listening to stuff like AC/DC, Guns n’ Roses, Kiss, Motley Crue, and other great bands like that. I can remember listening to ‘TNT’ by AC/DC and doing the oi oi oi TNT chant. It’s all fantastic music that I still listen to today, and I seriously want to thank my dad for giving me great taste in music. I know when I have kids, I will be like my dad and make them listen to the bands that I love, no matter how much they hate it.
And I can remember riding in John’s (my uncle) Dodge and listening to Rob Zombie (this was before he became a big horror movie director and just kind of quit the music scene.) Oh, but then, the late 90s’ happened, and I and my brother, like everyone else, listened to boybands and Brittney Spears. I know, it’s an epic fail, but back then, it was cool. Facepalm. Ok, that was an embarassing memory. Facepalm, facepalm, facepalm. Then, I went through a phase where I didn’t listen to any music. Seriously, I hated all music for some reason. Then, there were the teenage years. Oh, the teenage years! Why am I talking like that was ages ago? I’m still technically a teenager! In my early teenage years, I went through a rap phase. Did you ever have a rap phase? Well, I had one, unfortunately. Then, I played Guitar Hero at Wal-mart. I had an awakening of the soul and fell in love with rock n’ roll again. Oh, I still listen to some rap, but it’s pretty much just Lil Wayne now. I begged my parents to buy me Guitar Hero, and thank goodness, they did! Say what you want about Guitar Hero, but if it wasn’t for that game, there’s no telling what I would be listening to. Now my iPod is dominated by Metallica, Alice in Chains, Megadeth, and other totally and completely awesome bands like that. While my tastes have been refined, they have also expanded. One of my absolute favorite musicians is Sara Bareilles. I just love her so much and cannot wait for the next album. So, I hope you liked this post and didn’t think of it as one of those “my music is better than yours, nyah nyah” things, because it’s not. I just wanted to reflect on the music I love and why I love it. I will go more in depth about my music in future posts, but this one is already way too long! Signing off for now! See ya later!
